Annual reports—technical writing Sydney
We have significant experience in writing annual reports. A quality annual report is not only a summary of your organisation’s successes for the year but a way of accurately reflecting and reporting on your performance. We focus on performance reporting. We can project manage your annual report from concept and information gathering to technical writing and production.
Madrigal has experience in writing and producing annual reports for several NSW Government departments including Department of Land and Water Conservation (DLWC), Department of Infrastructure Planning and Natural Resources (DIPNR) and the NSW Department of Natural Resources (DNR). We have also produced annual reports for not-for-profits: Scalabrini Village, Jubilee Community Services and Flintwood Disability Services.
Our work on annual reports has covered all aspects of reporting for our clients:
- providing a performance management framework
- assessment of reporting against government or international standards
- specifying content needs and liaison with authors and management
- writing and editing to comply with government style guides
- production and design (including branding and photography)
Manuals and handbooks—technical writing Sydney
Manuals and handbooks should be written in plain English to provide accessible and easy-to-read information and guidance for your staff or customers. They need to be accessible to both beginners and the expert, so technical jargon must be avoided because it is not always understood.
Madrigal Communications was engaged to create a full suite of operations manuals for the Australian Marketing Institute (AMI). As a professional association the AMI defined its operations across eleven areas: Administration, Finance, Executive Support, Events and Professional Development, Membership, Marketing Communications, National Awards, Sponsorship, Accreditation, Emerging Marketers and State Advisory Committees.
Madrigal scoped the project with the CEO and developed a delivery program which involved all the AMI staff and management. We scheduled meetings with all staff; interviewed them to document their duties; drafted documents and managed staff and CEO reviews to finalise the manuals.
Policies and procedures—technical writing Sydney
Policies and procedures cover a wide variety of topics. Internal policies (sometimes standards) range from governance, management and the correct behaviours within your organisation. Procedures represent how policies are implemented over time. They change as new tools emerge, new processes are designed, and the risks change in response to internal or external environmental changes.
Madrigal Communications was engaged on a medium-term contract to assist in the development of the documentation of management standards for work delivery and procurement at Leighton Holdings Ltd (LHL now CIMIC). We were engaged to technically edit a suite of policies relating to project management delivery and procurement. We reported directly to the Chief RIsk Officer.
Madrigal analysed complex procedures and policies and liaised with senior managers in developing clear and understandable policy documents for distribution to senior managers at CIMIC’s subsidiary companies (then the main three were Leighton Holdings, John Holland and Theiss).
Sustainability reporting—technical writing Sydney
We have significant experience in helping organisations move to sustainability reporting using the global reporting initiative. Shareholders and stakeholders are now more and more focussing on organisations’ environmental performance. In response, many businesses are choosing to broaden their reporting from financial to include economic, environmental, and social performance.
Madrigal Communications scoped, designed and implemented Delta Electricity’s sustainability reporting. We initially reviewed their existing reporting against the National Generator’s Forum (NGF) Environment Working Group Guidelines based on the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and including the Utility Sector Supplement 2007 Pilot Version. We reviewed best practice reports and recommended the range of performance indicators needed, assembled information from Delta staff and then compiled, edited and designed the report.
